This pack trip was for my veterinarian friends from Ohio, Anne and Suzanne. Originally this was their 50th birthday trip but ended up 51st birthday trip. We had a blast. Our route was up to Indian Ridge via the Little Hell Roaring trail, then across Indian Ridge and Beacon Point dropping off into remote Hell Roaring Drainage. Our next move was up over a pass dropping into the heart of the Spanish Peaks above Mirror Lake camping under some billy goats high in a cirque. The objective camp was Champagne Lake on the edge of the large multi-cornered cirque at the base of Blaze Mountain among the Spanish Peak crags. Snow was expected, and welcomed with many smokey days due to a number of wildfires burning.
